The festival

Folk troupes from abroad close the Yilan Children's Festival with Diu Diu Dang
Visiting folk troupes performed the Yilan folk song Diu Diu Dang together to close the festival on 16 August 2026. It is held every summer at Dongshan River Water Park, and the 2026 edition ran for 44 days.
The festival began in 1996. Yilan County Government organises it through its Cultural Affairs Bureau, with CIOFF, the international folklore festival council, as co-organiser, and the park is laid out around four strands: performances, exhibitions, games and exchange.
In bad weather some outdoor games close, while exhibition halls and performances carry on. Smoking is banned across the park, and pets are kept out of the water zones and halls, with a pet-minding area provided.

Details
Dates and opening hours
The next edition is expected from early July to mid-August 2027, with exact dates and the programme still to be announced by the organisers.
In 2026 the park was open daily from 9:00 to 21:00, and the water zone kept its own hours.
Location and getting there from Taipei
The festival is held at Dongshan River Water Park, No. 2, Section 2, Qinhe Road, Wujie Township, Yilan County.
From Taipei, take the train or a highway coach through the Hsuehshan Tunnel to Yilan, then a shuttle bus or taxi to the park.
Free entry and age rules
Children under 115 cm or under 6 enter free, and those aged 6 to 12 or 115 to 150 cm buy a child ticket. People aged 65 and over and disability certificate holders with one companion also enter free, but only with proof. Without it, you pay.
Planning the day
The park has water play, performances, exhibitions and crafts, and there is no need to do everything in one day.
In 2026 the water zone was open 9:00–12:00 and 12:30–18:30, so plan it for when the children have the most energy. Check performance times in advance and fit crafts in between.
Staying overnight: Luodong Night Market and the Traditional Arts Center
A day trip works, but staying a night in Yilan lets you add Luodong Night Market and the National Center for Traditional Arts without rushing for a train the next morning.
Ticket prices and the festival passport
Single entry in 2026: adults NT$250 on weekdays and NT$350 at weekends, children NT$100 and NT$200. Group concessions were NT$200 and NT$300, available at the park only.
The festival passport is for the holder only and gives unlimited entry during the festival, at NT$500 for non-Yilan residents and NT$400 for Yilan residents. On top of tickets, budget for transport from Taipei, food in the park and a night's stay.
What to bring for water play and sun
The water zone has fountains and jets, so bring a change of clothes for adults and children, plus a towel and a waterproof bag for phones and tickets.
Pack hats, sunscreen and water, and give children regular breaks to rest and drink.
Weather and rainy days
In bad weather some outdoor games close, while the exhibition halls and performances carry on, so head indoors.
Summer holidays are peak season, and in 2026 a weekend single ticket cost NT$100 more than a weekday one, so go on a weekday if you can.
Where to buy tickets and refunds
In 2026 single tickets were sold at the park until 19:00, on Klook, at 7-ELEVEN ibon kiosks, and at some hotels, guesthouses and leisure farms in Yilan County. Apply for the festival passport on the official website.
After the gate stops selling at 19:00, only ticket or passport holders can enter; the park stays open until 21:00.
Refunds were accepted until the festival ended: convenience-store tickets at an ibon kiosk, online tickets through the platform's customer service, and hotel or guesthouse tickets where you bought them. For 2027, the organisers' announcement is final.
